It’s 9:18PM here in South Africa. It’s a cold night as I’m watching the ICC Cricket World Cup.

I cannot believe that our country is struggling against Bangladesh, a team who has lost their last 3 games by enormous margins. South Africa cricket team is ranked no. 1 in the world. Bangladesh is so low I don’t know where they are. We’ve only faced each other 7 times. We’ve won all of them. And all of a sudden… this team which no one was expecting to even put up a threat, is fully in control as South Africa stands at 70 runs for 4 wickets. As much as I want my country to win, I congratulate Bangladesh who have so far made a stunning comeback. Absolutely bizarre.

The game is far from over, but Bangladesh have posted a brave total of 251 runs. We are struggling to even get close. I am surprised and amazed that this underdog team is fighting hard and strong to make a great comeback against the world no. 1! I was expecting them to give up a fight, but not to do so well! I congratulate them, even the the wake of a South African defeat.

UPDATE: Bangladesh are still at it, South Africa are now 5 wickets down for 87 runs.

Conclusion: Bangladesh have won convincingly and have shown they aren’t afraid of the big guns. While I am saddened that South Africa may not qualify for the semi-final, I congratulate Bangladesh on defying all odds!
