Eric Montanez, the group spokesman for Food not Bombs charity, was recently arrested for feeding the homeless in downtown Orlando. Eric was caught on video by undercover police officers as he fed “30 unidentified persons food from a large pot utilizing a ladle.”
He was arrested according to the Orlando law (which is fully supported by local businesses) who claim that the homeless drive away business. Thankfully the law is being challenged in court by civil rights groups. This law allows charities to feed over 25 people at a time within 3,2 km of the city hall, but you need a permit.

The Internet Journalist’s thoughts:
I’m extremely surprised that it is illegal to help people who are worse off than you. Eric was merely trying to help, he was helping those people who have nothing. No homes, no clothes, no food. How can this be seen as expense of the country? Helping those in need is an asset to the country, especially if the government is not paying at all. Honestly I found it unfair and false and hopefully Eric Montanez doesn’t receive something harsh, he shouldn’t be receiving anything at all.
Note: These are my thoughts on the matter, only my opinion. Nothing more.
