Ice in Cape Town “UPDATE”

Posted June 28th @ 12:36 pm by The Internet Journalist

Let me tell you a bit about Cape Town:

Cape Town is a moderately warm city, with around 4 million residents (but I could be wrong, it’s growing fast). It is home to the 2nd most popular tourist attraction in Africa, after the pyramids. It is home to Table Mountain, a mountain which is flat on top, here’s a picture:

And here’s a map, Cape Town is at the bottom:

It’s a lovely place, because of its warm, and sometimes extremely hot summers (temperatures can reach around 40 degrees Celsius on a cloudless day) and it’s wet winters, which aren’t known to be freezing, the temperature is probably at worst 0 degrees Celsius during the night, so I was completely surprised that the ocean had almost FROZEN UP, this is possibly the first time it has happened in the last 20 years, if not more!

Take a look, but could this be a sign of environmental change?

This is a city that many tourists come to every year for its warm, but not killing, weather! And now there’s ICE?

UPDATE: Dennis, who posted a comment below stated that these pictures are from Russia, and living in Cape Town myself, I also found them a little bit suspicious. Anyway, I stand corrected… but I’ll be keeping the post up as the pictures from pretty amazing

People, come on. It’s NOT Cape Town… I live there and it didn’t look like that this winter.

Those pictures have been circulating for a while - it’s somewhere in Russia. Go figure

    PS:
“possibly the first time it has happened in the last 20 years”

    ..it’s never happened.

This has been going on for so long I can’t believe you are all so stoopid!! Just look at the picture with a harbour in the background. What were you smoking when you were in Cape Town? - if you have ever been here.
If you haven’t been come and enjoy. Promise no ice on the railings

i was also going to say that these pics must be a hoax. although, this weekend the weather has been some of the most incredible we have ever seen. camps bay beach road was closed due to the waves washing over, and our car got drenched in foam whilst driving through sea point. exciting stuff, but yes, could well be a sign of the times…
