Venus Ramey, the 1944 Miss America, has recently made news once again. She lives on her Lincoln County farm, where in a building she keeps her old steel-shaping machines among other equipment.
“This stuff is over 100 years old,”
The thieves were targeting the old machines, they had a great way for them to make money selling the parts as scrap metal.
When she spotted the truck, she drove over to where the criminals’ truck was parked outside the building. She promptly blocked it, preventing a quick getaway.
She asked the man what he was doing with he equipment.
He answered that he was “scrapping”, and knowing he was caught, said he would leave.
“I said, ‘Oh, no you won’t,’ and I shot their tires so they couldn’t leave,”
said Venus Ramey.
Raney whipped out her .38-caliber handgun and,without hesitating, shout out the truck’s tires.
“I didn’t even think twice. I just went and did it.”
Venus Ramey is a tough woman,
If they’d even dared come close to me, they’d be 6 feet under by now.”
All 3 thieves were arrested after Ramey asked someone driving by to dial 911.
“They’ve been stealing from me for years. Those good-for-nothing slobs,”
