Researchers have found that exercise causes you to build brain cells in an area of your brain which is linked to memory and its loss. The decline in these brain cells usually happens at around age 30 in most people, when they generally stop exercising. Exercise affects an area of your brain, the dentate gyrus, which is affected by age-related memory loss. First mice were tested, with MRIs before and after exercise and then on humans.
11 Adults were chosen to undergo a 3-month Aerobic health regimen. MRIs were done before and after as well as their oxygen levels. The more fit you got the more blood ran into the dentate gyrus, creating brain cells.
Looks like excercise is actually good for you. No more excuses about having a bad leg.
