Around the world in 80 days? Try 18 years, and still going! That’s an amazing feat by this 80-year-old man, who has just become an inspiration for myself.
He’s called “The Hawk“, or Harry Lee McGinnis, and he’s been walking around our globe accompanied by a light backpack and a metal-tipped walking stick. If anything it’s a inspiration for people “going green” worldwide, as he refuses unnecessary transport whenever offered.
He’s seen more of our planet than most of us will ever see, he’s been to:
- 66 countries
- All 50 states of the USA
- Africa
- Asia
- South America
If his feet had an odometer he would’ve traveled around 80,000 miles (around 130,000km)! And he’s 80 years old. That’s amazing.
So when is he going to be finished? He expects to be done in 2-4 years time, around the same time he wishes to publish a book of his legendary journey.
And he’s not done yet. He wants to play tennis at 100.
To follow his journey, check out Walk of the Hawk
