Most of us all HATE meetings. It’s a frustration and it’s often boring filled with small problems that don’t always affect you. After a study was done, where 1,037 full time or part time took part in, we finally have some guidelines as to what we, as people, tend to hate the most during meetings.
I’ve gone through the article, and I’ve made a list of what employees hate the most:
- 27% – disorganized meetings
- 17% – Interruptions and people who try to dominate the meeting
- 16% – Cellphone interruptions
- 9% – Others falling asleep
- 8% – No bathroom breaks
- 6% – No refreshments
- 5% – People leaving early or arriving late
- 5% – People on their BlackBerry
- 4% – Meetings that start late
- 4% – No written recap
“If you’re asking somebody to participate in a meeting, it has to be, from their perception, worth it to invest the time”
says Jeff Resnick, the president of Opinion Research in the USA. he continues,
“If you are someone calling the meeting, organize it, control everyone during the meeting, and make sure the people there aren’t wasting their time”
People don’t have enough time on their hands anymore. This is evident as the study ultimately shows that something unorganized that wastes time is the thing we hate the most. It’s the reason we hate meetings.
