Recently even more discoveries have been made on other planets outside our special solar system. A total of 28 new planets have been discovered, which is great news for Jason Wright of the University of California, who says, “We added 12 percent to the total in the last year, and we’re very proud of that”. “This provides new planetary systems so that we can study their properties as an ensemble.”
This means the total number of known exoplanets, as they’re called, has grown to 236 with more being added every couple weeks.
The study group says that at least 4 of the planets belong to multi-planetary solar systems and that at least 3 planets orbit stars 1.6 to 1.9 times the size of our very own sun.
